Giving Tuesday 2019

We all know about Black Friday and you've undoubtedly taken advantage of Cyber Monday by now as well. But have you heard about Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is an international celebration of giving that brings together businesses, nonprofits, and philanthropists of all shapes and sizes for one 24-hour giving extravaganza. Founded in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a philanthropic answer to the rampant consumerism that is Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Feeling a little guilty about your post-Thanksgiving shopping? Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to turn that around and make a difference through donating to your favorite nonprofit or local charity.

Every year, Giving Tuesday has grown exponentially, both in the number of nonprofit organizations participating, and in the number of donors and the amount donated. 2019 was the biggest year yet.

The GivingTuesday Data Collaborative reports that on GivingTuesday 2019, in the U.S., online giving increased from $400 million in 2018 to $511 million. Further, GivingTuesday estimates total online and offline giving at $1.97 billion, based on a newly developed statistical model.

While Giving Tuesday has been around since 2012, this year was One Good Turn's first time participating and wow, WHAT A SUCCESS. We were absolutely blown away by the generous support we received from our dedicated community! We set an ambitious goal for our first Giving Tuesday campaign and because of the amazing generosity of our donors and supporters, we not only met our goal but surpassed it as well.

We can't say thank you enough to every one of the amazing individuals who make our mission a reality. Every single donor, volunteer, and supporter is incredibly important to our work. Because of people like you, communities around the world now have access to practical, accessible medical education and clinical care. Because of you, we are building healthier communities together. Thank you.
